Nigeria drags Guinea to the Confederation of African Football(CAF) for fielding overaged players for the AFCON qualifier matches npflupdates exclusively reports.
Nigeria last month entertained Guinea in a double-header qualifier matches for the AFCON U-23 tournament.
In the first leg fixture on 23 March, Guinea held the Olympic Eagles of Nigeria to a goalless draw at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja.
In the second fixture that happened in Morocco, the junior Syli National won by beating Nigeria 2-0, thanks to goals from Bah Algassime and Soumah.
So, they qualified for the AFCON U-23 based on goal aggregates, and in anticipation for the Olympics.
A look into the Guinea squad, it was discovered that it fielded at least six players with age discrepancies. But overaged players are not eligible for the match.
For instance, Guinea captain Fode Camara according to details in public domain isn’t eligible. The Horoya FC midfielder falsified his age and other details.

A Guinean journalist, after the fixture expressed fears the act may see them strip off the ticket.
Nigeria drags Guinea to CAF:
“It’s a concern and a big issue in Guinea as we speak. Of course, Nigeria have a solid case because the records in public domain suggests he altered his age to be eligible for this level,” he told OwngoalNigeria .
“Age cheat is a big issue down here, and there are fears that it could cost us the U-23 AFCON ticket.
“But it’s Nigeria and I doubt of your FA will even lodge a protest.
“We all know how you guys aren’t clean as well.”
Meanwhile, Nigeria have filed a protest to CAF on the eligibility of about six players.
Guinea have been made aware of the recent development.
So, CAF is expected to rule on the case after studying the documents, and getting a defence from Guinea.
