Napoli Declare State Of Emergency On Osimhen Who’s Battling Intestinal Infection Following 2023 AFCON

Reigning Italian Serie A champions, SSC Napoli, declares a state of emergency on striker Victor Osimhen who at the moment is medically unfit according to reports.

Osimhen was part of the Super Eagles squad that achieved a podium finish at the just concluded 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The 25-year-old forward was reported to be battling with Stomach discomfort before Nigeria player South Africa at the AFCON semi-final. He later got medical clearance to participate in the semi-final.

However, a recent report by Italian media The Republica, has it that the former Olympique Lille forward had an intestinal infection.

What Napoli expects from Osimhen after 2023 AFCON

According to the Republica, Napoli has urgently requested the Nigerian returns to Naples as soon as possible.

“In the lvory Coast the number 9 was affected by an intestinal virus, which he should have left behind. But tomorrow’s check-up will sweep away any residual doubts. The Azzurri urgently need their leader and with him they will be able to return to the past, focusing permanently on a more offensive module”, the well known newspaper was quoted by Owngoal Nigeria.

In a related development, Italian journalist, Carlo Albino announced that Osimhen will be in Naples without further delay. According to Alvino, Osimhen will be accessed by the club’s medical team.

“Osimhen will be in Naples tomorrow morning, the player is leaving Nigeria, no crime, no mystery, no unforeseen delays”, Carlo Alvino posted on social media platform X formerly known as Twitter.

“Then his conditions will be evaluated by the medical and technical staff to understand if he can be called up for Napoli-Genoa, which is very likely” concludes Alvino in his post.
