Peseiro : Okoye And Ebuehi In My Plans For The 2023 AFCON And W’Cup Qualifiers

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro opens up on his intentions for embattled Super Eagles Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and defender Tyronne Ebuehi npflupdates.com reports.

Peseiro is willing to reintegrate Maduka Okoye into the Super Eagles, and that will be if his performances improves.

Okoye was with the Super Eagles as the first choice Goalkeeper two years for the African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon. He was instrumental for Nigeria as the team progressed into the knockout stages unbeaten in the group, and was awarded as best team of the group games.

However, Okoye’s miscalculation led a Tunisia goal which resulted go Nigeria been knocked out of the tournament. Fans heavily criticised the Germany-born goalkeeper, which many believed was his reason of taking a one-year leave.

In his absence, Peseiro identified Francis Uzoho as his first choice goalkeeper. The Portuguese tactician has at his disposal Goalkeepers Adebayo Adeleye and Ojo Olorunleke as his second and third choice goalies.

However, he hasn’t ruled out the option of not having Okoye back into his team.

Ebuehi’s inconsistency isn’t a big problem for the for the former Sporting CP gaffer, as he has a lot of players(Osayi-Samuel, Olaoluwa Aina, Bruno Onyemaechi, Chidozie Awaziem) in that department to chose from.

When asked during an interview with Sportitalia (via TMW) whether he would take Okoye and Ebuehi to the Africa Cup of Nations, the Portuguese gaffer responded:

“They belong to the group of players we follow and are part of the list of those we normally call,” he said.

“This way, they can participate in any competition the Super Eagles play in.”

In another story, Napoli forward Giacomo Raspadori has said he is not Victor Osimhen’s deputy at SSC Napoli. According to the player, team selections is done in a way it will favour the team.

In Osimhen’s absence, Raspadori have stepped up his games helping Napoli three and drawing one of their four matches played.
