The Super Eagles will Kickstart it’s journey for the 2026 FIFA world cup tournament against the Crocodiles of Lesotho next week Thursday.

For the fixture Portuguese tactician Jose Peseiro invited Udinese Calcio shot-stopper Maduka Okoye, Kenneth Omeruo and other top players for the blockbuster.
The first match against Lesotho’s Likuena will be played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo next week Thursday. The three-time African champions will thereafter fly to Kigali, Rwanda, for a clash with the Warriors of Zimbabwe at the Huye Stadium in Butare on Monday, 20th November.
It is very important to note that the 20,000-capacity Huye Stadium, which is located in the city of Butare and not very far from Kigali, Rwanda capital, has an artificial turf.

Two things to takeaway from the current list are the following:
First, Nigeria will be entertaining and inducting a brand new recruit in Nathan Tella. Tella is an England-born footballer with Nigerian root.
The youngster has since made his intentions of wanting to play for the Super Eagles publicly known. Now he is presented with a chance of actualising his dream.

Secondly, the second fixture of the 2026 FIFA world cup qualifier against Zimbabwe will be played in Rwanda, as no single stadium in Zimbabwe meets CAF standard.
The match will be played at the Huye Stadium which has an artificial turf in the main bowl. The Super Eagles performance may be drastically affected, as the players are not familiar with playing on synthetic turfs.
