Victor Osimhen Cautioned By Napoli Captain Over Harsh Reaction

Napoli Captain Di Lorenzo has opened up on the touchline row between Victor Osimhen and coach Rudi Garcia npflupdates.com reports.

Last Sunday in a Serie game against Bologna, Victor Osimhen was caught on Camera angry and agitated after he was substituted by Coach Rudi Garcia.

Garcia had decided to substitute Osimhen with less than ten minutes to stoppage time. Meanwhile, the Nigerian before the substitution having being denied by the post, also missed a goal-scoring chance when he missed from the spot.

According to sources, Osimhen had wanted two more strikers on the pitch so they can pile more pressure on the already retreating Bologna.

However, the game ended in a draw, leaving Napoli without a win in three Serie A matches. That also mean, that Osimhen have gone three matches without finding the back of the net for Napoli.

Reacting to the touchline row, Di Lorenzo cautioned that the team doesn’t need attitude. According to the Italy international, the team needs to be united and focused on their objective.

“We manage certain episodes within the locker room. These become more evident when things go wrong,” he told Italian media and quoted by Punch Nigeria.

“In these moments we don’t need such an attitude, we need to be united and focused on the objective. We will talk to the group and the coach to resolve it.

Speaking further, the defender, confessed that Napoli for no reason had anticipated being behind in the championship.

“We don’t like to be behind in the championship, even if only at the beginning,” he added.

Meanwhile, Napoli coach, Rudi Garcia in his statement defended the penalty miss, stressing that even world’s greatest players do miss spot-kicks. Also, he confirmed speaking to the Nigerian behind the scenes why his decision to substitute him.

“The missed penalty happens to the greatest players in the history of football,” Garcia said.

“Then, I obviously spoke to him about his exit, but what I said to him and the team he remains in the locker room. I may not be happy with their performance, but we are a squad with many players and therefore obviously everyone must be used. He is the penalty taker.

“There is a team that starts, one that is in the second half and another at the final whistle. We will not go far unless I can count on all the lads.”

Speaking further, the former Al Nasr gaffer, revealed the importance of making players feel happy and positive.

“It is a positive that players are not happy when they come off, just as it can happen that I am not happy with their performances. It is a large squad and I want to use them all,” he stated.

When asked what target President Aurelio De Laurentiis had asked of him when he replaced Luciano Spalletti, he said:

“A team like Napoli must play in the Champions League every year. Seeing the Scudetto won and the team, Napoli’s place is in the top four, we are not there right now and therefore cannot be happen. At the same time, we must not throw everything out the window, we must push for good fortune to turn our way.
