Rangers FC Sign 18-year-old Flying Eagles Invitee

A former Scottish Premiership champions Rangers Glasgow Football Club, has signed a Flying Eagles invitee Thompson Ishaka NPFLUpdates reports.

The Scottish giants confirmed the signing of the teenager on its verified Twitter handle Friday afternoon.

According to reports, Ishaka last year had a trial at the club after impressing in a tournament representing Brooke House Academy London; but no decision about signing him was made. He then got injured and was sidelined from competitive action.

Thompson was invited to the Flying Eagles camp ahead of an AFCON U-20 tournament in Egypt. He spent three weeks with the Junior national team but didn’t make the final list.

After leaving the national team camp, Ishaka was handed a second invitation by Rangers, this time he travelled to Morocco with the youth team for a tourney.

He was impressive, and convinced the club’s heirrachy into handing him a permanent contract.

According what was obtained from the club’s official statement, the former Riverlane of Enugu player, will spend two years with the Light Blue.

“#RangersFC is delighted to announce the signing of Thompson Ishaka until summer 2025,” club official Twitter statement read.

 

The Flying Eagles invitee most recently bagged a hat-trick against Dundee. He was also on target when Rangers exchanged tackles with Northern Irish outfit Glentoran; and also Slovakia club, MSK Zilina.

Reacting to the development, club supporter, trooped to Twitter to air their views and various opinions. While some cheered the signing, some talked down on the playmaker.

“This the guy we had in the summer that was rapid,” Twitter user @_JB2201 tweeted.

“He was injured for a bit that’s why he wasn’t seen, now back and signed, boys looks good,” @Craigwalker0805 tweeted.

Another Twitter user @TopsyTu04683490, stressed that Ishaka wanted ‘silly’ money at his first trial at the Glasgow-based club.

“This is the boy who was looking for silly money last year? Was then hawked around multiple clubs with no success and now back here with his tail between his legs to play in the part time 5th division,” he tweeted.
